The New SEO – Website Eye Candy

One of the most effective ways to increase your traffic and improve your conversion rates is to make your website more attractive. Search engines are getting smarter and smarter. They know if visitors are not spending much time on your website and that plays a part in how well they rank you in the search results. Your website design plays a huge part in attracting or repelling visitors so that’s why it’s now something you need to consider from an SEO standpoint.

You may not need to spend thousands on web design to enhance your website performance. You could be just a few small tweaks away from producing a far better outcome. You don’t need to hire big advertising agencies to come up with with stunning brand guidelines and visuals. But you do need to learn to ‘think in images.’

Make visual content a priority on your website, not just an after-thought. Photos, infographics, slideshows, and videos should all be considered when developing a website. They need to be enticing for your target market. Here’s how to create eye candy for your website in a cost-effective way:

  • Start using high quality stock images for your blog. The difference between free and paid stock images is often significant so it’s better to spend a little for a far better outcome.
  • Create infographics. When they are well made, infographics allow you to tell a compelling visual story that gets your message across more easily than a lengthy page of text. They are also very sharable so they can be fantastic for your SEO efforts.
  • Fill your blog, About page, Facebook profile, and galleries with images you take behind the scenes in your business. When you have an important company event it’s a good idea to hire a professional photographer, or to assign an employee with a knack for photography to take great shots.
  • Use videos on your website. It can be behind-the-scenes video, tutorials, messages from the CEO, or anything else you can think of that will interest your target market.

Okay I might be a little biased here however, I strongly believe you should consider investing in a professional web designer who is prepared to refine your existing website design.

When your website looks great to humans, there’s a good chance search engines will notice and rank you highly. Gone are the days of rubbishy, offshore SEO, this is the new SEO and I love it!
